Before our car scrappers collect your vehicle, it is worth taking a few minutes to remove personal accessories and aftermarket items that you have added over the years. Here is a guide to what to remove and what to leave.
Items to Remove
Remove dash cameras, sat navs, phone holders, and any electronic devices you have installed. These items belong to you and will not significantly affect your scrap value. Also remove child car seats, as these should never be reused from a scrapped vehicle due to potential hidden damage from accidents.
Roof Boxes and Bike Racks
If you have fitted a roof box, bike rack, or roof bars, remove these before collection. They are reusable accessories with resale value and are not included in the scrap assessment. Our collection drivers can help remove items if you are unable to do so, but doing it beforehand saves time.
Sound Systems
Aftermarket sound systems including amplifiers, subwoofers, and premium speakers can be removed and sold separately or used in another vehicle. However, standard factory-fitted audio systems should be left in place as they add value to our used parts stock.
Floor Mats and Seat Covers
Quality rubber floor mats and seat covers are worth removing if they fit your next vehicle or can be sold. However, if they are worn or vehicle-specific, they are unlikely to have independent value. Original floor mats in good condition may have value through our breakers yard for matching sets.
Sentimental Items
Check under seats, in the boot well, and in every pocket and compartment for forgotten items. We find everything from jewellery to important documents in scrapped cars. Once the vehicle is at our scrap yard, recovering items becomes much more difficult.
