Collection Without Keys
Our collection drivers carry equipment to safely load a vehicle onto a flatbed truck without keys. We can position the vehicle using wheel skates, dollies, or by carefully dragging it onto the truck with a winch. The process is safe and does not cause damage to the surrounding area.
Does Missing Keys Affect the Price?
Missing keys can slightly reduce the scrap value because the vehicle cannot be easily started to assess running components. However, our car dismantlers can still assess mechanical components at our scrap yard and recover parts value. The difference in quote is typically minimal.
Proving Ownership
Without keys, proof of ownership becomes even more important. Having the V5C registration certificate in your name is ideal. If you do not have the V5C, you will need photo identification matching the registered keeper’s address and any supporting documentation like insurance documents or previous MOT certificates.
Spare Keys
If you have a spare key but it no longer works, bring it along anyway. Even a non-functional key fob can be reprogrammed and has value as a used part, particularly for vehicles with expensive keyless entry systems like BMW, Mercedes, and Audi.
