Is Scrapping the Right Choice?
Before committing to scrap a classic, consider whether the car has value as a restoration project. Pre-1980 vehicles, particularly British classics like MG, Triumph, Jaguar, and Austin-Healey, can be worth more intact to an enthusiast than as scrap metal. We can advise whether your classic is better sold as a project or sold for parts.
Parts Recovery
Classic car parts are often worth far more individually than the car’s scrap metal value. Chrome bumpers, wooden dashboards, rare engines, and body panels for discontinued models can fetch excellent prices. Our car dismantlers have experience with older vehicles and understand which components have collector value through our used car parts service.
Scrapping Legally
Classic cars must still be scrapped at an authorised treatment facility. Even if a car has been off the road for years, it must be properly depolluted — fluids drained, battery removed, and hazardous materials disposed of correctly. Our breakers yard is fully licensed and compliant with all regulations.
DVLA and Tax Considerations
Older vehicles may still be registered with DVLA even if they have been SORN for years. We handle all the DVLA notification and provide a Certificate of Destruction. If the vehicle has historic tax class or is tax-exempt, this does not affect the scrapping process.
