Imported and left-hand-drive vehicles present unique considerations when scrapping. Whether your car was imported from Europe, Japan, or elsewhere, our scrap yard accepts all vehicles regardless of origin and handles the additional documentation requirements.
Registered Imports
If your imported vehicle has been registered with DVLA and has a UK V5C, the scrapping process is identical to any domestic vehicle. Our car scrappers handle the DVLA notification and issue a Certificate of Destruction as normal. The vehicle’s country of origin does not affect the process or your price.
Unregistered Imports
Vehicles that were never UK-registered require different handling. We still accept them, but the documentation process differs. You will need to prove ownership through the original foreign registration document, purchase receipt, or shipping documentation. Contact us to discuss specific requirements for unregistered vehicles.
Japanese Imports
Japanese imports are common in Scotland, with models like the Nissan Skyline, Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7, and various kei cars having enthusiast followings. Parts from these vehicles can be valuable through our used car parts service due to their rarity in the UK market. Our car dismantlers know which Japanese-market components have collector value.
European Vehicles
Left-hand-drive European vehicles are generally less desirable in the UK parts market, but the scrap metal and catalytic converter values are identical. Our auto breakers can still recover and sell mechanical components like engines and gearboxes, which are not affected by the driving side configuration.
Value Assessment
We assess every imported vehicle individually. Rare or desirable imports may have higher parts value than their domestic equivalents, while common left-hand-drive models are valued primarily on weight and metal content. Our free quote reflects the true market value regardless of origin.
