Car dismantling has evolved from a dirty, unregulated trade into a professional, environmentally vital industry. Modern car dismantlers like us are at the heart of the circular economy, extending the useful life of vehicle components and recovering materials that would otherwise go to waste.
From Scrap Heap to Green Industry
Twenty years ago, many vehicles were simply crushed whole with minimal parts recovery and no environmental controls. Today, our breakers yard operates to exacting standards set by SEPA and the End-of-Life Vehicles Directive. Every vehicle is carefully depolluted, dismantled for parts, and then recycled to achieve over 95% material recovery.
Parts Reuse: The Greatest Environmental Benefit
Selling a used car part prevents the environmental cost of manufacturing a new one. Consider a replacement engine: manufacturing a new engine consumes tonnes of raw materials and generates significant carbon emissions. Fitting a tested used engine from our auto breakers saves all of that environmental impact while costing the buyer a fraction of the new part price.
Material Recovery
After parts removal, the remaining vehicle shell enters our materials recovery process. Steel, aluminium, copper, zinc, lead, and plastics are separated using a combination of magnetic, eddy current, and density-based separation technologies. Each material stream is sent to specialist recyclers for reprocessing into new products.
Employment and Economy
The vehicle dismantling sector employs thousands of skilled workers across Scotland. From mechanics and parts specialists to environmental compliance officers and logistics coordinators, the industry provides quality employment while delivering essential environmental services.
Our Commitment
We are committed to pushing recycling rates even higher as new technologies emerge. Our auto salvage operation continuously invests in better equipment and training to stay at the forefront of vehicle recycling in Scotland.
