Caravans and trailers that have reached end-of-life present disposal challenges due to their size and mixed construction materials. While our primary focus is vehicles, our scrap yard can advise on and facilitate caravan and trailer disposal across Scotland.
Caravan Scrapping Challenges
Unlike cars, caravans are built from a mix of aluminium, steel, wood, fibreglass, and plastic. This mixed construction makes recycling more complex than standard vehicle processing. Our car dismantlers separate materials by type to maximise recycling rates and minimise landfill waste.
What Can Be Salvaged
Caravan components including windows, doors, awning rails, gas systems, water heaters, fridges, and furnishings can have resale value to other caravan owners. Our auto breakers team assesses salvageable components before the structure is broken down for materials recycling.
Trailer Disposal
Steel trailers including box trailers, flatbeds, and car transporters have straightforward scrap metal value based on their weight. Aluminium livestock trailers and horsebox bodies also have good recycling value. Contact us with trailer details for a quote.
Registration and Documentation
Touring caravans do not have V5C registration certificates or require DVLA notification. However, if your caravan is on a CRiS register, notifying them of disposal is good practice. Static caravans on holiday parks may have site-specific removal requirements to discuss with the park owner.
Collection
We can arrange collection of caravans and trailers from residential addresses, storage facilities, and caravan parks across Scotland. Larger units may require specialist transport. Contact us to discuss your specific requirements and arrange a convenient collection time.
